Norte, Sul, Leste, Oeste

São Paulo, 2016

At the main exhibition room at MuBE – Museu Brasileiro da Escultura, designed by Paulo Mendes da Rocha, there are four cutout squares on the large concrete plane above, which have their vertices pointing to the four cardinal points. Those are skylights, usually unused, often covered with opaque material, which were opened and filtered by purple, red, violet, and orange acrylic plates for north, south, east, and west. On overcast days, the colors mix on the floor and separate on the viewers’ bodies.
