Casa Acesa

2008

A project conceived to light up La Casa Encendida with interventions in different spaces of that cultural center in Madrid. The building’s old courtyard, which had been covered with a glass ceiling to host concerts and shows, was a meeting point as well. The huge amount of light entering there illuminated circulation areas in all the other floors as well. To filter the light is this “glass cabinet” meant to filter the light in the whole La Casa, altering the atmosphere in every space.

In Casa acesa, I used correction filters to blue (CTB 5500°K), amber (CTO 3200°K), and neutral density. Mixing complementary color-light hues – blue and amber – generated light that was seemingly neutral, but with high vibration. And each field of projected light-color invoked a different moment of the day, all simultaneous there.
