Painting and scraping on glass
Regressão begins with the museum underexposed to natural light, since the glass façade on the first floor is painted matte black. Then a team of young artists – the Regressors – start to remove the dark filter, working daily for 3 months, scratching out figures and patterns, overlapping drawings and texts, and cutting out shapes until total transparency. While this is happening, the sound of the avenue is captured by a microphone and amplified in real time inside the museum: an indistinct rumble that over the days gains volume as the building recovers its transparency, bringing a resonant presence of the city.
